At Clean Beach Pirates, our mission begins with our hands in the sand—literally.
We aim to clean one beach per day as we sail across the Ionian Sea, letting the wind guide us to hidden coves, remote shores, and overlooked corners of paradise—many of them only accessible by boat.
What we find is often heartbreaking: plastic buried in bushes, nets tangled in rocks, bulky waste like tires and barrels dumped and forgotten. In just one week, a small crew can remove over 100 bags of waste—and that’s not counting the big stuff.
But we don’t stop at cleanup. We turn awareness into action.
Our Mission
Beyond Waste: A transformative experience
Volunteer-Powered
We believe real change comes from connection—with nature, with each other, and with new ways of living. That’s why each Clean Beach Pirates’ journey is also a space for collective learning. On board, we live in community, sharing responsibilities and stories.
Participants are introduced to the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) framework and inspired by eco-community principles.
Purpose-Driven
We’re proud to collaborate with GEN International and Red Amaltea, weaving global networks of regenerative practice into our pirate mission. Thanks to our Seamar friends, we can take plastic samples as sailing the seas, data we are happy to collect and share to track the sea’s health evolution.
Whether you join us for a week or longer, you won’t just clean beaches—you’ll gain tools to reimagine sustainability in your everyday life.
how sailing transforms
A life-changing time at sea
“Sailing with Irini, who was then a complete stranger, last summer, changed my life. I had some experience with motorboats but zero with sailing — and a year later, I’m still hooked. Irene makes everything feel easy. Her way of communicating is warm, clear, and calming, and she creates a sense of trust very quickly. During our month-long journey there were intense moments, and she guided us through every one of them with steadiness and care. I returned home stronger, more confident, and eager to sail again. Thank you, Irini, for creating these spaces and filling them with so much heart.”
