Wind shifts, the crew grows
You can call me Irini—Greek for peace. Last summer, I arrived in the Ionian Sea with a small sailboat and a big-hearted crew. We were guided by wind, purpose, and the salty pull of the unknown. Autumn arrived and one gusty day, we moored to a ferry next to another sailboat at an overflowing port—That is how I met Nol, a Dutch sailor who’s been charting these waters for 20 years. That unexpected meeting sparked a wild idea back to life:
Clean Beach Pirates is setting sail again for 2026.
but this is not where the story began

Back in 2019, Nol and Antoine—two sailors from different shores—dropped anchor in Ithaca’s Sarakiniko Bay. What should’ve been a paradise was instead a heartbreaking scene: a beach littered with tires, paint cans, plastic debris. They couldn’t sail away and pretend it wasn’t there. They cleaned what they could, packed their dinghy to the brim, and would later realise they had already launched what would become the Clean Beach Pirates.
Seven years later

ALLIES
In this edition, CBP is facilitated by the emerging association Tiamat, name of the creation dragon that gives name to our ship.
This magnificent sailboat has been restored thanks to Scheepsbouw Kroes shipyard generosity and our great pirates Rikus, Gerard and Noll, in the Netherlands.
We’re also proud to collaborate with GEN International, Octop’us Network and Red Amaltea, weaving global networks of regenerative practice into our pirate mission.
Thanks to our Seamar friends, we can take plastic samples as sailing the seas, data we are happy to collect and share to track the sea’s health evolution.
We are all together for regenerative change. Will you become an ally too?
